Fibroids

Uterine Fibroid

A  woman may sometimes develop fibrous growth in her uterus. These growths are mostly non-cancerous and are called Uterine Fibroid. Medical Intervention is important in case it is cancerous.

Heavy bleeding during or between periods or pain in pelvis or lower back indicate the presence of fibroids. Additionally, feelings of pressure or fullness in the lower abdomen are also indications.

Fibroids can disrupt your menstrual cycle and cause fertility issues. Thus immediate attention is important. Medigrace, with a skilled team of doctors specializing in fibroids, offer you the best care and treatment available.

Estrogen and progesterone, female hormones are secreted to regenerate the uterine lining but an imbalance in these hormones lead to excess growth or fibroid.

Contact us immediately in case of:

Medigrace is fully equipped with all diagnostic facilities that are required to diagnose fibroids, like

Ultrasound– To get a picture of the uterus to detect fibroid

Hysteroscopy – A small instrument is inserted in the uterus to view the insides.

MRI– Gives a detailed picture of number, size and location of the fibroids

Hysterosalpingography– X-ray of the uterus and fallopian tube

Complete blood work– Low level of blood cells indicates anemia which is a symptom of fibroids.

Most common question we get is if uterine fibroids obstruct pregnancy and the answer is that it does not interfere with pregnancy but may increase the chances of preterm delivery, fetal growth restriction and placental abruption.

At Medigrace, an expert team of doctors is always available to give you perfect treatment according to your fibroid growth.

  • Medication– When the fibroids are harmless, medication is given to deal with the symptoms like pain and heavy bleeding.
  • Myomectomy – an incision is made to remove fibroids.
  • Hysterectomy – Surgery to get uterus is removed
  • Hysteroscopic morcellation of fibroids– an instrument is inserted through the cervix to remove the fibroid.
